Detroit: Become Human Is Looking Even More Like A Movie

Video game director David Cage’s games always have a distinct style. From Indigo Prophecy to Beyond: Two Souls, the game designer has always left his mark on the games he’s helmed, for better or for worse. Indeed, when PS4 exclusive Detroit: Become Human was shown off at last year’s E3, it seemed very much like another David Cage adventure, weirdness and all.

This year’s trailer almost seems to be advertising a different game. While choice mechanics remain intact, they seem to have taken a backseat to cinematic storytelling here. The presentation is slick and the voices don’t sound like French Canadians trapped in Philadelphians’ bodies.

While it’s nice to see Detroit getting an extra level of polish, I hope the final game still has some of that Cage charm underneath.
